YUCATAN, MINN. - Donald N. Flatten, 68, of Yucatan died Monday, March 20, 2006, at his home. Donald was born on May 2, 1937, in LaCrosse, Wis. to Arnold and Anna (Lord) Flatten. He lived all of his life in Yucatan. Donald attended Yucatan Country School, and graduated from Houston High School in 1955. He attended the University of Minnesota. On December 28, 1962, he married Mern Mueller. Donald farmed for his entire career in Yucatan. He served in the U.S. National Guard. Donald was a member of Faith Lutheran Church of Blackhammer, Circle A Saddle Club, Rawhide Roping Club, and the American Paint Horse Association, where he was an inspector and a judge. Donald was most recently active giving horse clinics. Horses were his life's passion. Donald is survived by his wife, Mern; one son, Reid Flatten of Casper, Wyoming; one sister: Beverly Johnson of Rushford, Minn.; one nephew and four nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Jean. There will be a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 25, at Faith Lutheran Church of Blackhammer with the Rev. Leonard Liptack officiating. There will be a visitation at Hoff Funeral Homes - Houston Chapel from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
