HOFF CELEBRATON OF LIFE CENTER, GOODVIEW, MN
Donald E. Pellowski, 87, of Winona, MN died on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at Callista Court in Winona. He lived heroically the past six years with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP).
Donald was born on February 19, 1929, in Winona to William and Julia (Sieracki) Pellowski. He was a 1947 graduate of Winona Cotter High School. He received his Associate Degree in business from St. Mary's University in Winona. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. On August 22, 1964, Donald was united in marriage with Elizabeth Storlie at The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Winona. Through his career in Winona, Donald worked for Briggs Transportation, at J.R. Watkins as a rate traffic claims supervisor and later as a state grain inspector at Harvest States Grain Cooperative. He was a member of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka, Knights of Columbus, Winona American Legion Post 9 and the Winona Athletic Club.
Donald was a kind, patient and caring man who cherished time with his wife, children, grandchildren and extended relatives. Roadtrips were a must every summer. During his younger years, he played summer baseball. As an adult, he was a consistent bowler with a superb average, and played slow-pitch softball well into his 50s. He delighted in the spoils of his vegetable gardens, especially tomatoes, green onions and kohlrabi.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Elizabeth, who was tirelessly by his side throughout his journey with PSP; three children: Philip of Las Vegas, NV, Linda of Minneapolis, MN and Joseph of Winona; two grandchildren: Joshua and Marisa; by a brother, William (Marilyn) Pellowski of Northfield, MN and many relatives.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2017, at the Basilica of St. Stanislaus Kostka in Winona with The Reverend Monsignor Thomas J. Hargesheimer officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery in Winona. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, February 24, at Hoff Celebration of Life Center in Goodview, MN; Prayer service begins at 6:30 p.m. There will also be a visitation beginning at 10 a.m. at the church on Saturday.
