ST. CHARLES, MN - Dolores L. Wittlief, 86, of St. Charles, MN died on Friday, April 22, 2016, at Season's Hospice in Rochester.
Dolores was born on May 27, 1929, in Dover, MN to Norval and Florence (Connaughty) Sanden. She was raised south of St. Charles and graduated from St. Charles High School in 1947. Dolores was a graduate of the Kahler Nursing School in Rochester. On September 11, 1951, she was united in marriage with Randall Wittlief in Pilot Mound, MN. Dolores receiver her Bachelor's degree in Social work in 1980, from Winona State University and later received her Master's degree in nursing from the University of Minnesota. She worked as a nurse at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester for many years. Dolores also spear-headed the Life Line home monitoring system at Mayo Clinic. She retired in 1993. In her spare time Dolores enjoyed reading, growing flowers, western movies, the Minnesota Twins and NASCAR.
She is survived by three children: Matt Wittlief of Utica, MN, Vicky (Keith) Pagel of Eyota, MN, and Jenny Putzier of St. Charles; three grandchildren: Kathy (Josh) Storandt, Tyler Pagel and Randy Putzier; one great-grandson, Blaine Storandt; and by a brother, Darrell (Deanna) Sanden of Cedar Rapids, IA.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
There will be a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in St. Charles with the Rev. Samuel Morsching officiating. Burial will be on at the Hillside Cemetery in St. Charles. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Hoff Funeral Service in St. Charles and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.
The family prefers memorials directed to St. Matthew Lutheran Church.
