On the evening of Thursday, November 20, 2014, Diane Lou Meyer passed away at home with her family at her side after a short illness.
Diane was born March 3, 1939 in Guthrie Center IA to Victor and Beula Towne. Following high school she moved to Des Moines and worked for Prudential Insurance later transferring to the Rochester office. She married David Meyer October 3, 1965 and they recently celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary. Diane stayed at home to raise their 3 children and worked on the farm then worked at the Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield MN as a cook for 13 years until her retirement. Diane enjoyed gardening, golfing, sewing and spending time with her family. She was an active member of Root Prairie Lutheran Church serving with WELCA and many church committees. In recent years she was also a member of “Jackie’s Golden Girls.”
Diane is survived by her husband David and three children Denise (Jay) Wheelock of Fountain, Dan Meyer (Dorothy Peterson) of St. Louis Park, Danae (Josh) Forman of La Crescent MN; and three grandchildren, Beck, Alex, & Megan.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Beula Towne; and brother Larry Towne.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 PM, Monday, November 24th at Root Prairie Lutheran Church, with Pastor Karla Kirkeby officiating.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, November 23rd at Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield, and one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be Root Prairie Cemetery.
