Denise Marie Breault, age 58, of Houston passed away on June 26th, 2024, at her residence after a courageous battle with Leukemia.
Denise was born in Oakland, California to Daniel and Janice (Bangert) Breault. She lived in California until her teen years and then moved with her mom and two brothers to Minnesota in 1979. She returned to California in 1996 and married Christopher Wiest on May 23, 1998. Christopher passed away in 2020. Denise was a well-known cook and baker her entire life. She worked for a decade at Perkins. In 2021, she began working for Valley View Nursing Home in Houston, and she loved the people she worked with and cooked for. Denise’s boss made this statement regarding her death, “Denise was part of the Valley View team since 2011. Even though she had a gruff exterior and a bigger bark, she also had a heart of gold, a full tank of wit and sarcasm, an unending laugh and a tremendous work ethic.” She was known as the “crazy chicken lady” and was brazen with an enormous sense of humor. Her love language was cooking for those she loved, and she was a loyal friend to a large group of people, both locally and online. Her hobbies included board games, jewelry making, crafting, and everything chickens!
She is survived by her mother Janice Bangert of Elk River, MN, her sister Michelle Henderson of Redding, CA, her two brothers Daniel Breault of Oakland, CA and John Perry of Elk River, MN and her mother-in-law Anne Aas of Alaska. She is further survived by her nieces, nephews, many great nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father Daniel, her brother David, and her husband Christopher.
A celebration of Denise’s life will be held on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at 12:00 P.M. at Houston Baptist Church in Houston, MN, with Luke Range officiating. A luncheon and time of sharing will follow the service at the church.
The burial will take place at Swede Bottom Cemetery in Houston at a later date.
