St. Charles, Della Fay Hughes, 88, of St. Charles died Wednesday June 18, 2008 at Golden Living Center - Whitewater in St. Charles. Della was born January 20, 1920 in Dover to Archie and Etta (Franklin) Thompson and graduated from Dover High School in 1939. She and Ralph Hughes were married March 15, 1942 in Rochester, moving to St. Charles in 1945. Della worked for Holdridge Grocery Store in Dover as a clerk. She later worked for Jack Spratt Groceries in St. Charles and with her husband at Ralph's Radio and T-V in St. Charles. Della was a homemaker. She entered Golden Living Center - Whitewater March 18 of this year. She was a 63 year member of Hugh Watson Post #190, American Legion Auxiliary of St. Charles. Survivors include her husband Ralph, two daughters, Beverly (Gerry) Ihrke of Dover, Joyce (Steve) Spang of West Bend, WI, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a sister Nancy (John) Schmitz of Elgin. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Jean Luce. Funeral Services will be 11AM Saturday at Hoff Funeral Home in St. Charles with Funeral Celebrant John Wagenaar officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Hillside Cemetery in St. Charles. Friends may call from 5-8 PM Friday and one hour before services Saturday at Hoff Funeral Home in St. Charles..
