Dean "Deano" T. Sanden, 74, died Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at Winona Community Memorial Hospital in Winona, MN. Deano was born December 29, 1936, in Lanesboro, MN, to Arthur and Frances (Johnson) Sanden. Deano served in the U.S. Navy during the Suez Crisis. He married Deanna Thompson on January 4, 1958, in Rochester, MN. Deano worked as a meat cutter for 35 years for Turners Meat Market and at WSU for 15 years in the maintenance department. He was a longtime member of the Winona Eagles Club and the Athletic Club. Deano is lovingly remembered for his passion of pitching horseshoes, playing his ukulele, bowling and his great sense of humor.Survivors include his wife, Deanna; three daughters, Kelly Mucha of Byron, MN, Kim (Randy) Skappel of Winona, MN, and Krissa (Jon Bedsted) Hilger of Plainview, MN; five grandchildren, Victoria Mucha, Josh (Jamie) Averbeck, Colton Averbeck, April (Joe) Lehnertz and Kristine (Steve) Kreckow; two great-grandchildren, Megan and Angie Lehnertz; sister, Arlone (Jerry) Turner of Winona, MN; and his special cat, Shadow. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Kevin "Bum" Sanden in 1980, and sister, Elaine.Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 21st, at 11:00am, at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service Hansen Goodview Chapel with Funeral Celebrant John Wagenaar officiating. Spring burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
