Dean Arthur Nisbit, 65, of Pine Island, died Saturday, December 30th at Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Mary's Campus in Rochester. Dean was born July 19, 1952 in Winona to Harley and Blanche (Colgan) Nisbit. He graduated from Mayo High School in Rochester. Dean entered the United States Marines in 1970, later transferring to the U.S. Navy before serving in the National Guard. Dean and Mary Staloch were married November 29, 1980 in Eyota. They lived in Chester, Rochester and Elgin before making their home in Pine Island in 1995. Dean worked for Rochester Armored Car for the past 31 years. Wood working was his passion, having made all the furnishings in their home, as well as cabinets for many family and friends. Dean loved his grandchildren, who were his world.
He is survived by Mary, his wife, two children, Shawn (Shelley) Nisbit of Rushford and Melissa Nisbit (Tom Owens) of Rochester, his four grandchildren; Jaxson, Adrian, William and Jessica, a brother Stanley (Mary) Nisbit of Faribault and a sister, Judy Doster of Comstock, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two granddaughters, Joclyn and Morgan.
Services for Dean will be 6 p.m. Friday at Hoff Funeral Service in St. Charles, led by funeral celebrant Dianne Rislow. Friends may come from 4 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home. The St. Charles VFW and American Legion Clubs will present military honors following services at the funeral home.
