David William Ulrich

April 4, 1952 — September 15, 2015

David "Tiny" William Ulrich, 63 of Winona and formerly of Houston, went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse and is celebrating his life in Heaven with his Savior.Dave was born April 4, 1952 in La Crosse to Roger and Lois (Eide) Ulrich. As a child, he loved spending time on the farm with his Grandpa Gilman and Grandma Clara. On August 21, 1976, he married Della (Grossell) Hongerholt and immediately began loving Della's four children as his own. Dave and Della had three children, David, Stephanie and Daniel. Della passed away on November 2, 1986. On October 1, 2004, Dave married Sheryl Bunke, continuing to grow his family with the addition of her 3 boys. Dave loved each and every person in his family and wasn't afraid to tell them. He was always encouraging them and let them know how proud he was of them every chance he got.Dave had three true passions in his life: the Lord, his family, and farming. He spent many years as a self-employed truck driver, first with Dave Ulrich Trucking and then becoming Ulrich Transport when his brother joined him. He spent his last few working years at Farmer's Co-Op Elevator in Rushford. Farming was never a job for him but it was something he truly enjoyed. His passion for farming came from all the time spent on his grandparents' farm as a child. Dave was active on the Hart Township Board and was a very devoted member of Living Light Church.Besides driving truck and farming, he loved spending time outside, fishing with his dad in his earlier years and watching Westerns. Dave will forever be remembered for his big hugs, his unique way with words, his "Dave-isms" and his way of being a source of strength when you needed it most.He is survived by his wife, Sheryl; mother, Lois Ulrich; children, David (Kari Anna) Ulrich, Stephanie Lang, Daniel (Megan) Ulrich, Victoria Hongerholt, Bradley (Ellen) Hongerholt, Stacey (Harlan) Nelson, Randall (Vicki) Hongerholt, Brent (Lorelei) Bunke, Scott (Kathy) Bunke and Bruce (Jenni) Bunke; grandchildren, Abigail & Samuel Ulrich; Spencer & Connor Lang; Allyssa, Rachael & Taylor Nelson; Joseph, Jacob, Joshua & James Hongerholt; Chloe & Caleb Bunke; Brandon, Hannah & Brooke Bunke and Mikayla, Kaitlyn & Owen Bunke; two brothers, Luther Ulrich and Paul (Lori) Ulrich; sister, Karen (Fred) Gatzlaff and his special nieces and nephews, Nathan, Nicholas, Emily, Ryan, Sarah, Lindsey and Matthew. He was preceded in death by his father and his first wife, Della.Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Living Light Church in Winona with the Reverend Sonny Misar officiating.
