David Wayne Marks, Sr., 63 of Altura, MN passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2015 surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer.David was born May 22, 1951 to Percy and Delores (Glenna) Marks, living in rural Utica on the family farm. They later moved to Winona in 1969. On August 22, 1970, he married Roxanne Thilmany. They have four children, Vickie, Dale, David Jr and Daniel. They moved to Altura in 1990.David worked at Cenex, Cenex Harvest States and Agriliance for 30 years. He worked at Lewiston Feed and Produce for 9 years before retiring in 2013.David enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, playing cards and dice and his grandchildren. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Lewiston where he served as chairman on the Board of Trustees as well as on the church council. He served on the Altura City Council for 10 years, two of which he was Mayor. He was also a member of the Altura Lions Club for 6 years and spent one year as president.David is survived by his wife, Roxanne; daughter, Vickie (John) Hokenstad of Stockton; two sons, Dale of Altura and David (Marcy) of Winona; 11 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, one sister and his son, Daniel.Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, April 18, 2015 at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church with the Reverend Michael A. Lindemann and Reverend Paul Kuckhahn officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in St. Charles.
