Age 66 of Winona, MN, died Friday, April 22 at Gunderson Health Systems in La Crosse.
David was born to Raymond and Gladys (Dorman) Grossell on March 19, 1950 in Wabasha. David grew up in Winona and attended Winona schools. He worked in construction for over 30 years, first at Lester's, then he ran his own construction business for 17 years, building several buildings in the Winona area, including the City of Winona bike barn, Prairie Island picnic pavilion, and the Wilson fire station. David was a jack-of-all-trades and was self-taught to fix or build just about anything. He finally retired from Badger Construction in 2012. David really enjoyed staying in touch with his construction crew and Badger co-workers by having monthly breakfasts with them.
David loved cars and won many drag racing trophies in Rock Falls, WI. He owned and worked on many cars over his lifetime but his pride and joy was his 1934 Chevrolet Coupe which he spent several years restoring from the ground up. He loved his retirement and followed all of the Minnesota sports teams. He loved all animals and had a very special way with them. David especially loved his dogs; first Rasta and then Cheyenne (his Coco Puff).
David is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Barbara (Kutchara); sons, Dan and Jay, who he loved and was so proud of, brother Mike of Winona and sister Patricia of Minneapolis.
A funeral service will be held at 3 PM, Thursday April 28, 2016 with visitation from 1-3PM at the Hoff Celebration of Life Center, Goodview. Funeral Celebrant Jenny Hoff will be officiating.
