Pollema, 75, of St. Charles, Minn. died on Thursday, September 6, 2012, at the Golden Living Healthcare Center in St. Charles. David was born on February 18, 1937, in Winona, Minn. to Herman and Helen Maxine (Elliot) Pollema. He attended Lewiston Schools. He entered the U.S. Navy, stationed in San Diego, Cal. After his return from the military, David worked for the Lewiston Meat Market and the City of Lewiston. He married Joan Kramer Fort at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. The couple made their home in St. Charles. He worked for Sprint Telephone for 37 years. In his retirement, David had his own lawn mowing and snow plowing business. He was a Boy Scout Master, member of the Lewiston Fire Dept., Lewiston Business Assoc., Rising Star Masonic Lodge in St. Charles of which he was a 50 year member and the Lewiston Sportsmen's Club.David is survived by his wife, Joan; Children: Rick Pollema of Mankato, Minn., Tom (Amy) Fort of St. Charles, Carolyn Nicklay of St. Chares, Sue (Ryan) Paul of St. Charles, Joe (Jenny) Fort of Zumbro Falls, Minn., and Julie Carlson of St. Charles; grandchildren: Brandon, Joshua and Cody Nicklay, Ashley and Andrew Paul, Morgan and Haley Carlson, Eva and Charlie Fort, and Emma Fort.He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, John and sister, Dorothy. There will be a Funeral Mass for David at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 10, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in St. Charles with the Rev. Kurt Farrell officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, where there will also be a 7:00 p.m. prayer service, and also one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
