HOFF FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICE 507-864-7771David Allan Highum, 69, of Richfield, Minn. died on Friday, March 21, at his home. David was born on June 10, 1944, in Minneapolis, Minn. to George and Marjorie (Covert) Highum. He was raised in Fulda, Minn. and graduated from Fulda High School. David served in the U.S. Air Force. He worked as a mail sorter for the USPS in the Twin Cities all of his career. David was very active in the Masonic Lodge. He joined the Richfield Lodge # 334 when he took his Entered Apprentice Degree on October 1, 1990. David passed to his Fellow Craft Degree on November 5, 1990 and raised to the Master Mason Degree on December 3, 1990. He held several offices before being elected Worshipful Master of Richfield Lodge #334 for the year, 1996. He has been a life member since June of 1999. Later that year, they merged into Cataract Lodge #2. He joined the Scottish Rite, and received his Red Hat of Minneapolis Valley in October of 2009. Dave was further honored when he received the Hiram Award from Cataract Lodge on May 1, 2011. In 2005-2006, Dave was the, "Mason of the Year" for the Lodge. He has also served the Lodge in the reading program for Minneapolis school system and has been reading with students at Bancroft School for many years. Dave is survived by his brother, Richard (Peggy) Highum; two nephews, Paul (Mirium) Highum and Adam Highum; and by many aunts, uncles and numerous cousins all are of Clarks Grove, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Marjorie; nephew, Scott; grandparents, George and Gertie Highum, and Sidney and Emma Covert.There will be a Masonic Service for David will be held at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service in Rushford by the Cataract Lodge #2 at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 12.
