Darwin Ray Buss, 65, of Chatfield died Saturday August 20, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Hospital St. Mary’s Campus in Rochester from complications of cancer.
Darwin was born January 10, 1951 in Slayton, Minnesota to George and Tena (Tuin) Buss. On March 22, 1969 he married Carol Ann Sass at the Chatfield United Methodist Church. The couple made their home in Chatfield. Darwin worked for many years for the Milwaukee Road and Illinois Central railroads as a Brakeman & Conductor.
He enjoyed following Nascar, watching football, especially the Vikings, and most of all spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and attending their sporting events and school activities. He was an avid collector of a wide variety of items such as Nascar and railroad memorabilia, old phones, phone booths, and m&m collectibles just to name a few. He and Carol enjoyed Gold Rush every year and Darwin loved refurbishing antique furniture and displaying them all around their home. Darwin proudly showed everyone who entered their home the basement jam packed with his collections.
Darwin is lovingly remembered by his wife Carol; children: Darla Buss of Grand Meadow, Toni (Mike) Woltman of Stewartville, Kimberly (Corey) Forbes, of Chatfield, & Samantha Sample of Chatfield; siblings: Sharon Hammel, Dallas (Rita) Buss, George (Jeanne) Buss, Lyle (Deb) Buss, Lonnie Buss, Sharilyn (Ron) Solberg, Marilyn (Gary) Brockway, Staria (Lee) Kester, Donnel (Dave) Johnson, Kathy (Randy) Overend; Sisters-in law: Donna Buss & Virginia Starken; and 10 grandchildren.
