Darlene M. Meisch, 76, of Altura died Saturday morning, December 8, 2007 at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center in Wabasha, MN. Darlene was born on September 20, 1931 in Truman, MN to Emil and Louise (Brummond) Breitbarth. She graduated from Winona High School and worked at Winona General Hospital. She was in the first nursing assistant class at the hospital. She moved to the Twin Cities and worked at Abbott Northwestern for nearly two years and moved back to Altura. On July 11, 1953 Darlene married Nick Meisch in Altura. Together they worked on the family farm for many years. She moved to Adith Miller Manor in Winona and later to St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center. She was a member of Jehovah Ev. Lutheran Church in Altura, and its Women's Guild. Darlene enjoyed sewing, crafts, playing games, flower gardening, being outside, and being a homemaker. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Nick of Altura; daughter, Terri (Robert) Ketchum of Utica; son, Rick Meisch of Altura; six grandchildren, Michael, Eric, and Jennifer Ketchum, Nichole, Christopher, and Jessica Meisch; two great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Kyli Ketchum; daughter-in-law, Linda Meisch of Lewiston; two sisters, Violet Ellingsberg of Madelia, MN and Valeen Altenburg of Lewisville, MN; and two brothers, Dale Breitbarth of New Port Richey, FL and Marlon Breitbarth of North Branch, MN. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents and son, Phil Meisch. The Funeral Service for Darlene will be held at 11:00AM on December 14, 2007 at Jehovah Ev. Lutheran Church in Altura, MN with the Reverend David A. Fischer and Reverend Michael A. Lindemann co-officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8PM on Thursday, December 13 at Jehovah Ev. Lutheran Church in Altura and also one hour prior to the service at the church.
