Darlene Marie Sommers (Allen), 77, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2016, at Gundersen Health System. Darlene was born July 23, 1938 to Vernon and Violet (Wright) Allen. She graduated from West Concord High School in 1956 and moved to Rochester to work. There she met and married Sherwood Courrier. Together they had two children and moved to Rushford, but later divorced. On September 16, 1977 she was united in marriage to Bill Sommers. Darlene was a woman of many talents as she was a seamstress, woodworker, cake decorator, business owner, and wonderful cook who was known for her peanut brittle and potato salad. Darlene is survived by her two sons, Bryce (Barbara) Courrier of Rushford and Curt (Robin) Courrier of Rushford; step-daughter, Debi Sommers of Pine Creek, WI; grandchildren, Bethany (Scott) Glatczak, Sarah (Nick) Hall, Rebecca Courrier, Michelle (Andrew) Brouwer, Alex Courrier, Eric Courrier, and Neil Courrier; step-grandchildren, Jeremy (Katie) Zimmerman and Jenny (Jason) Passow; 4 step-great-grandchildren; siblings, Dale (Ruth) Allen, Roger Allen, Donna Atkinson, and Jerry (Judy) Allen; sister-in-law, Faye Salwey; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill Sommers; ex-husband, Sherwood Courrier; brother, Arlie; and step-daughter, Rhonda Sommers. A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m., Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Hoff Celebration of Life Center, Goodivew with Reverend Terry Rasmussen officiating.
