Darcy was born June 16, 1969, in Rochester to Marvin and Barb (Fieck) Hemker. She graduated from John Marshall High School and graduated from Rochester Vo-Tech in the surgical tech program. Darcy has worked 31 years for Mayo Clinic as a surgical tech in Cardiac, ENT and Gynecology departments. On August 25, 2001 Darcy and David Schaefer were married at North Prairie. They made their home near Pilot Mound. She loved the outdoors and grew to share Dave's interests of; hunting, on their land near Lanesboro, 4 wheeling, pistol shooting competition. Darcy loved being near the water, including boating, fishing, water skiing, snorkeling, and diving. She insisted that any vacations she shared with Dave and their two sons, be on or near the water.
Survivors include her husband, David, their two sons, Trenton, stationed in Pensacola, FL, and Brandon at home, her mother, Barb Hemker of Rochester, siblings, Randy Hemker of Kasson and Dawn (Dave) McCullough of Rochester, Dave's parents, Jerry and Cleo Schaefer of Chatfield, and a sister-in-law, Lisa (Mike) Bernard of Chatfield and nieces and niece and nephews, Kaylie, Josh and Nate Bernard, Zachery and Lindsey Hemker. She was preceded in death by her dad, Marvin Hemker.
Services to remember Darcy will be 11 a.m. Friday, December 31, 2021, at Hoff Funeral Service in St. Charles, led by funeral celebrant, Jodi Heim. A visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday and 10 - 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
