Daniel (Dan) Joseph Moulton, 72, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, May 12, 2024.

Dan was born on December 6th, 1951 to Truman and Arleen (Weis) Moulton, in Rochester. He loved his family very much. He married his wife Susan Husted in 2013. Dan loved and is survived by his 3 daughters Alison Merkins-Weiler, Andrea (Jack) Seehof, and Karlee Moulton (Cole). He was also blessed with 4 bonus children, Brooke Bass (Scott Schmalzbauer), Brandon Bass, Jenny (Menno) Wengerd and Kyle Bass. He was blessed to experience life with 8 of his grandchildren.

Dan is also survived by his 3 siblings, Dixie (John) Reesor, Dewey Moulton and Dennis (Jill) Moulton, his neices, nephews and extended family.

Dan is proceeded in death by his parents Truman and Arleen (Weis) Moulton and extended family members.

Dan wanted nothing more than to teach his children things and spend time with his grandchildren.  He loved sharing experiences with his grandchildren that he once shared with his children. He enjoyed cooking big breakfasts for the family and going out to eat for Friday Night Fish Fry and Chinese.

Dan was an active and driven man. He graduated from John Marshall High School, acquired a bachelor’s degree from St. Cloud University and then went onto law school at Hamline University. He began practicing law in 1982.  Dan had a wide variety of interests. He owned and operated his own trucking business, law practice, Moulton Chinchilla Ranch, Rochester Express, refurbishing pallets and much more.  Dan was extremely proud of the opportunity to run for Judge in 2016 for the Minnesota Third Judicial District. He was a resourceful businessman that persisted through many life obstacles, including health challenges.

Dan was a very social man. He had a love of learning about new things and people. He could cross paths with anyone and hold a genuine conversation. He was an avid lover of MN Gopher Football. He loved his loyal German Shepherd, Molly. He enjoyed fishing, spending time in the barn with his chinchillas, driving his semi truck early in the morning and sight seeing.
