Altura, Cyril Norbert Speltz, 80, of rural Altura died Tuesday, July 16, 2013 in Lewiston at Speltz Estates Assisted Living on Hospice Care. Cyril was born September 8, 1932 in Winona to Vincent and Susan (Siebenaler) Speltz and attended Holy Trinity School in Rollingstone. Cyril and Mary Dvorak were married November 7, 1957 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Adams, MN. They farmed their entire married lives on Oak Ridge. He had been a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Oak Ridge and later became a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Altura. Cyril was an active member of the Bishop Francis Kelly Assembly 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. He also belonged to the Altura Lions Club, receiving the Lions' Melvin Jones Fellowship as a result of his involvement in the Altura Habitat for Humanity home. He was inducted in to the 2013 Winona County Fair Hall of Fame. Cyril served on the St. Mary's Cemetery Board at Oak Ridge for 19 years, was a member of the St. Nicholas Society, served as AMPI Division Chairman and enjoyed his involvement in the Winona farmers market. Cyril's life was centered around farm, family and faith. His survivors include his wife Mary, four sons; Ron (Linda) of Altura, Randy (Pam) of Plainview, Rick (Michele) of Altura and Bob (Valerie) of Gilbert, AZ, his grandchildren; Eric (Melissa), Douglas "D.J." (Jenee), Dustin, Brittany, Brian (Sarah), Hilman (Angela), Cedric, Galyn "Tucker", Amelia, Jeanette, Joseph and Zach, great-grandchildren; Gabriella, Gable, Grayson, Greenlee, Auria, Austin, Augie and Payson, three sisters; Theresa (Purves) Todd of St. Cloud, Mary Ann (Don) Erpelding of Minnetonka and Geraldine Daley of Preston and two brothers, David and Richard (Carol) Speltz both of Altura and an aunt, Lillian Siebenaler of Winona. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law Peter Daley and a sister-in-law Barbara Speltz. A Funeral Mass will be 10:30 AM Monday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Rollingstone with the Reverends William Kulas and Timothy Hall concelebrating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Cemetery at Oak Ridge. Friends may call from 3-7 PM Sunday and 9:30 - 10:30 AM Monday at the church.
