Cynthia Sue “Allen” Bothun, 74, passed away on February 18, 2025, at the Gundersen Nursing Home in Harmony, MN.
Cindy was born on February 12, 1951, to Lloyd and Juella “Severson” Allen. She was one of three children and grew up outside of Chatfield, Minnesota, where she attended Chosen Valley High School. Shortly thereafter she met the love of her life Danny “Buck” Bothun.
On September 6th, 1980, Cindy married Danny Bothun at the Chatfield Lutheran Church. They had three children: Jason (Christina) Bothun, Melissa (Chad McCorquodale) Bothun, and Troy Bothun. They were married for 43 years.
Cindy’s passion, secondary to her family, was caregiving for others. She worked at an array of jobs that were caregiver focused. She ran a private in-home daycare, worked at the Chosen Valley Care Center, Preston Good Samaritan, and Park Lane Assisted Living, just to name a few.
Cindy will always be remembered for her self-lessness, she always put others before herself and was the glue that held her family together. Cindy enjoyed her game shows, having an overflowing snack and Kool-Aid cupboard designated for her grandchildren, had an extreme talent for winning almost every hand in 500 Rummy and Spades, and her luck was just as strong at the casino.
If Cindy was not at home, she was driving around and likely could be found at the Dollar General. While Cindy enjoyed many of the simplicities of life, it was clear that her family was the most important thing to her, she adored her children, grandchildren, and her little pumpkin Odin.
Cindy leaves behind her three children: Jason (Christina) Bothun of Preston, Melissa (Chad McCorquodale) Bothun of Burr Oak, IA, Troy Bothun of Burr Oak, IA. Ten Grandchildren: Dylan, Hannah, Abigail, Audrey, Gavin, Dawson, Carson, Alayna, Aniston, and Ariana. One great-grandson Odin. A brother Ronnie (Rosie) Allen, brother-in-law Bob Dahl, and several nieces and nephews.
While the loss of Cindy leaves her family with heavy hearts, they are comforted in knowing that she has finally reunited with her parents, husband Buck, and her sister Phyllis Dahl.
Family would like to thank all for the heartwarming visits and calls during her time at the Traditions of Preston Assisted Living and Gundersen Nursing Home. Family would also like to thank Heartland Hospice for all the comfort care for Cindy and her family throughout this difficult time.
There will be a Funeral service for Cindy on Wednesday, February 26th at 11:00AM at the Preston United Methodist Church. There will be a visitation prior to the service from 10:00AM-11:00AM.
