RUSHFORD, MN - Curtis W. Johnson, 88, of Rushford, MN died on Thursday, January 5, 2017, at his home in Rushford.
Curtis was born on June 24, 1928, in Lanesboro, MN to Alfred and Jenny (Johnson) Johnson. He was raised in rural Lanesboro, MN and was a 1946 graduate of Lanesboro High School. He worked as a mink rancher and a painter for a few years. He became the postmaster of the Peterson, MN post office in 1961, and around that same time began and managed the Peterson Credit Union. He retired in 1992. In his retirement he owned and operated several rental properties in Peterson and Rushford. Curtis also operated his own corn on the cob and baked potato vending business in the Phoenix area for 11 years. On March 3, 1993, Curtis was united in marriage with Donna Cummings Dailey in Phoenix, AZ. In his spare time he could be found golfing at Ferndale Golf Course in Rushford. He also enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, traveling and he loved to be a tease to his family and friends.
Curtis is survived by his wife, Donna of Rushford; two sons: Kendall Johnson and David (Diane) Johnson, both of Rochester; four step-children: Valarie (Steve) Howe of Rushford, Duane (Charlene) Dailey of La Crescent, MN, Brett Dailey of Las Vegas, NV, and James (Melissa) Dailey of Rushford; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one sister, Audrey (Howard) Mars of Phoenix, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Brother, T. Ray Johnson; and son, Mark Johnson.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service in Rushford. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. following the visitation.
