Curtis Earl Henry

Curtis E. Henry of St. Charles, age 89, died of cancer at his home on November 24, 2015. Curt was born June 13, 1926 in Saratoga Township to father, Earl V. Henry and mother, Ruth McCready Henry. Curt graduated from Saint Charles High School and enlisted in the Army. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1946 and returned home to the family farm. He married Margaret Eileen McGrath of Plainview on October 30, 1946. They farmed together until 1958 and then moved to St. Charles. He began a career in trucking working as a over the road trucker and milk hauler later working for Patterson Quarry, Mathy Construction, and Midland Transport. He belonged to the Teamsters Union. He retired in 1988. He joined St. Charles Moose Lodge # 1114 in 1969 and served in various rolls throughout his 46 years of membership. In 2001, he received the Pilgrim Degree. He was also an active member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and volunteered throughout the community. In retirement he enjoyed woodworking, helping his children with their projects and spending time with his grandchildren. In his later years you could find him at the dining room table working on jigsaw puzzles with family members. Sunday afternoons were family day.Curtis is survived by his loving wife, Margaret of 69 years; children, Earl V Henry St Charles, Carol (Larry) Krohse North Fort Myers, FL (formerly Wabasha) Kathy (Roger Rother) Henry Hastings, Joyce Ellinghuysen Rochester, Barb (Jeff) Jorgenson Rochester, Bev (Bob) Winzenburg Mankato, Rose (Wally West) Henry St. Charles, Trish (Tom) Gathje Rochester, Jeanne Schultz Plainview; 15 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brother Dean (Becky) Henry. He is preceded in death by his parents Earl and Ruth; brother, Sandy; an infant daughter and grandson, Zachary Jorgenson.Visitation for Curt will be 4-8PM, Sunday November 29 at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service in St. Charles with a Moose Lodge service at 6 PM and Rosary service at 7:30. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11AM, Monday November 30 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with visitation 1 hour prior. Interment Calvary Cemetery, St. Charles. Memorials may be directed to the Moose Lodge Scholarship Fund or St. Charles High School Scholarship Fund. The family extends a special thanks to Seasons Hospice.
