Curt Holzer, 67, of St. Charles died Thursday February 14, 2008 at Seasons Hospice in Rochester. Curt was born May 11, 1940 in Rochester to Anthony and Elizabeth (Fix) Holzer. He graduated from St. Charles High School in 1957. He and Geraldine Patzner were married July 15, 1961 in St. Charles. Curt worked at St. Mary's Hospital for a short time. He then worked as a shift manager at Crenlo. He was a grocer for 35 years, working for Jim's Red Owl which later became Mike's Food Center. In retirement he worked for R & S Transport of Rochester for four years. Curt was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and served as secretary of the Calvary Cemetery board for many years. He served on the St. Charles Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years, was instrumental in establishing the St. Charles Volunteer Ambulance and was a member and former secretary of the St. Charles Moose Lodge. Curt loved fishing and riding his Gold Wing. Survivors include his wife Geraldine, five children; Mike Holzer of St. Charles, Mark (Pamela) Holzer of Pine Island, Janell (Michael) Sipe of Mankato, Anthony (Michele) Holzer of Rochester and Joseph Holzer of St. Charles, six grandchildren, Hallie and Taylor Sipe, Ashley Holzer, Dylan and Krista Holzer and Tyler Holzer, a foster son Otis (Pons) Mosely and their children Bounthany and Deja. He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Lori Holzer and his parents. A Funeral Mass will be 11AM Tuesday at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with the Reverend James Callahan officiating. Cremation will follow with spring burial in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Monday at Hoff Funeral Home in St. Charles. They may also call one hour before services at the church.
