Cora M. Gerry, 93, of St. Charles died Monday, May 1, 2006, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford. Cora was born on March 8, 1913, in rural Lanesboro, Minn. to Ole and Sophia (Kolstad) Lewis. She was raised in the North Prairie area, and attended Big Springs Country School. She graduated from Lanesboro High School and from Winona School of Business. When she was ten years old she met Reuben Gerry at a gathering in Pilot Mound, Minn., and later met Reuben again while she was working as a bookkeeper for Reuben's uncle John Gerry's insurance business. Cora married Rueben Gerry on August 18, 1937, at North Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Lanesboro. Cora and Reuben lived south of St. Charles for many years. Cora worked at the First National Bank in St. Charles for eighteen years. She was a member of the North Prairie Lutheran Church, Saratoga School Board, and was a life member and officer of the Eastern Star. Her interests included music, oil painting, fishing, sewing, and spending time up North at the Cabin. Cora is survived by three children: Coralyn Worth of Duluth, Minn., Frank (Sonjia) Gerry of Lewiston, Minn., and Gaylen (Carol) Gerry of St. Charles, Minn.; seven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; and one brother, Henry (Verona) Danielson of Fergus Falls, Minn. Cora was preceded in death by her husband, one brother, Lester, and one sister, Stella. The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 5, at the North Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Lanesboro with the Rev. Ron Warnes officiating. Burial will be in the Saratoga Cemetery in Saratoga, Minn. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at Hoff Funeral Homes - St. Charles Chapel, and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.
