Clifford Arnold Waadevig, 86, of Chatfield, died Friday, May 8, 2015, at the Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield, where he had resided for three months.
Clifford was born July 6, 1928, in Arendahl Township, Fillmore County, to John and Ida Marie (Berge) Waadevig. He joined the U. S. Army in January 1949, serving as a surgical technician at Fort Hood, Texas and Fort McCoy, Wis., until his discharge in November 1951. Clifford was united in marriage to Phyllis Jean Vickerman on Sept. 20, 1950. He was a carpenter.
He was a member of the Chatfield American Legion and served on the Chatfield Amublance Service. Clifford enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; three children, Pat (Marland) Jackson of Machesney Park, Ill., Deb (Steve) Bushman of Rochester and Andy (Sarah) Waadevig of Chatfield; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; three sisters; and several other family members.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, at the United Methodist Church in Chatfield, with Rev, Debra Jene Collum officiating. Burial will be in Sartatoga Cemetery.
Visitation will be held today from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield, and one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Chatfield American Legion Post 197.
