Rushford-The funeral for Clifford Rustad will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at Highland Prairie Lutheran Church, south of Rushford. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. one hour before the service, also at the church. Mr. Rustad, 89, of Rushford died Friday, October 27, 2006 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford. Clifford Carlus Rustad was born to Christ and Mina (Stensgard) Rustad on December 21, 1916. He was baptized and confirmed at Highland Prairie Lutheran Church and attended the Dolalie Country School at Bratsberg in Norway Township. He married Dora M. Torgerson on December 4, 1937 at Highland Prairie Lutheran Church. He was a diversified farmer who raised purebred Duroc hogs since 1950. He and his wife, Dora, were co-chairs for the 125th Highland Prairie Lutheran Church celebration. Clifford served on the board of directors for Good Shepherd Lutheran Services for a number of years. He was instrumental in establishing the building of the "Wayside Chapel" as a memorial to the church that burned on Easter Sunday, April 23, 1973. He was a strong supporter of the outdoor amphitheater, known affectionately as the "bowl", and was caretaker of the park and cemetery for 13 years. He was a 4-H leader for the Norway Go-Getters. After retiring from farming Clifford worked for Rushford Farmer's Elevator and was a custodian and foreman at the Enterprise and Dresbach Rest area on I-90. Clifford was preceded in death on May 14, 1993 by Dora, his wife of 66 years. Survivors include one daughter, Gloria (Charles) Ruen of Lanesboro; three sons, C.Dale (Rebecca) of Scottsdale, AZ; Wayne (Geraldine) of Austin; and Richard (Lesy) of Bella Vista, AR; 17 grandchildren, and 29 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, three brothers, Lester, Clarence and Raymond, a granddaughter and a great -grandson.
