Clifford "Chip" Henry Bernard, 62, of Chatfield, died Wednesday in Northwood, Iowa.
He was born June 19, 1949, in Chatfield to Art and Evelyn (Kunerth) Bernard. He graduated from Chatfield High School in 1967. He married Lana Erickson Nov. 30, 1968, at Chatfield Lutheran Church. He was the owner of Bernard Bus of Chatfield, the family business that he purchased in 1985. He was a woodworker and attended Tuesday night shop classes. He also enjoyed hunting, boating, casinos, antiquing and driving bus.
Clifford is survived by Lana; his mother Evelyn, of Chatfield; two sons, Michael (Lisa) and Jamie (Barbie) of Chatfield; one daughter, Molly (Ed Lillie) Bernard, of Wabasha; six grandchildren, Kaylie, Josh and Nate Bernard of Chatfield, Teagan Lillie of Wabasha, Michael and Josh Hrstka of Chatfield; two brothers, Glen (Kaye) Bernard of Rushford and Al (Joyce) Bernard of Belle Plaine; and two sisters, Lois (Bill) Bernard-Small of Milwaukee and Arleta (Dick) Fenwick of Chatfield.
He was preceded in death by his father.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at Chatfield Lutheran Church with the Rev. Mark Docken officiating.
