Clifford B. Skalet

Clifford B. Skalet, 92, died Tuesday, February 17, 2009, at Winona Community Memorial Hospital in Winona, MN. Clifford was born February 11, 1917, out in the country near Highland, MN, to Alphonso and Alpha (Peterson) Skalet. He married Adeline R. Benston on March 4, 1939, in Peterson, MN. They would have celebrated their 70th anniversary. Clifford was a life long farmer in the Peterson area. Clifford loved farming as well as a good game of cards, reading, and is lovingly remembered for his passion for Ford cars and Allis Chalmers tractors. He was a member of North Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Lanesboro, had served on the church council and had been a member of the rural school board. Survivors include his wife, Adeline; three children, Allan (Kaye Eiken) Skalet of Lanesboro, MN, Paul (Sandy) Skalet of Rushford, MN, and Luanne (Dwight) Storelee of Lanesboro, MN; six grandchildren, Todd (Janie) Thompson, Tim Skalet, Troy (Audra) Skalet, Travis (Jodi) Skalet, Kayla (Richard) Hasvold, and Brett Storelee; six great grandchildren, Tyler, Trevor, Savannah, Landon, Logan, Evan and Ethan; and sister, Arlene (Irven) Holtegaard of Lanesboro, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Evelyn and Fern.Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 2:00pm at North Prairie Lutheran Church with the Reverend Ron Warnes officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
