Clayton Leonard Miller

Clayton L. "Bing" Miller, 95, longtime St. Charles resident, died Sunday June 4, 2006 at Whitewater Healthcare Center in St. Charles. He was born in St. Charles on June 14, 1910 to Arthur and Nellie (Watson) Miller and graduated from St. Charles High School. He was a sales representative for P. Lorillard Cigarette and Tobacco Co. of New York. Most of his life Bing was in the grocery business in St. Charles, Winona and LaPorte, IN. He owned and operated "Foodtown Grocery" in St. Charles. He also worked many years for Noweta Gardens of St. Charles. He married Frances Sherman in 1937 and they later divorced. In 1955 he married Irma Page of Witoka. She died in 1982. Bing was a past secretary and Governor of St. Charles Moose Lodge and held its' fellowship degree. He was a long time member of Winona Area Ballroom Dancing Club. He loved flowers, dancing, athletics and trout fishing. Survivors include a son Jon (Karen) Miller of Rochester, two daughters, Mary Friederich of Beverly Hills, Florida and Frances (Arthur) Scharf of Zumbrota, a stepson Thomas (Pat) Page of Dodge Center, two step-daughters, Helen (William) McNally of Witoka and Anita (Marlin) Gady of Dakota, nine grandchildren, 13 step-grandchildren, 25 great- grandchildren, 24 step great-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren and a special friend Phyllis Toloken. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irma, an infant son and two brothers. Funeral Services will be 11AM Thursday at Hoff Funeral Home's ? St. Charles Chapel with Funeral Celebrant John Wagenaar officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery in St. Charles. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Wednesday at Hoff Funeral Home's ?
