Clayton John Malley

June 17, 1922 — October 29, 2010

St. Charles, Clayton John Malley, 88, of St. Charles died Friday, October 29, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. He was born June 17, 1922 in Fountain to Thomas and Margaret (Wilbright) Malley. In 1942 Clayton enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country honorably in the South Pacific. Clayton married Mona Speer on February 2, 1948 in Fountain, where they made their home. In 1956 the couple moved to Rochester where he worked for Ace Truck, Mack Truck and Custom Truck as a mechanic and later as a parts manager. They moved to St. Charles in 1992 where Clayton was able to fulfill his passion for farming, by working in the fields for Toby and Gail Klassen. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Survivors include his three children; Jona Dee (Harold) Hines of Rochester, Phil (Vicky) Malley of Lake City and Randy (Sandy) Malley of Rochester, nine grandchildren, Eric (Lisa) Hines; Kriston (Suvranu) Ganguli; Marissa (Lee) Sterrett; Jason Malley; Jenny Malley; Jamie Malley; Eryn Malley; Nik (April) Malley and Aly Malley, eight great-grandchildren and two brothers, Kenneth (Kathryn) Malley of Preston and Francis (Jeanne) Malley of St. Cloud. He was preceded in death by his wife Mona on November 10, 2008 and by his parents. A Funeral Mass will be 11AM Monday, November 1, 2010 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with the Reverend Kurt Farrell celebrating. Friends may call from 2-5PM Sunday at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service in St. Charles. They may also call one hour before services at the church. Burial will be at a later date in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester. There will be a 4:30 PM Prayer Service on Sunday at the Funeral Home.
