WinonaClayton "Butch" Dval Burt, Jr, 71 of Winona, died Friday, July 25, 2014 after spending 10 days at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse following a heart attack.Clayton was born March 16, 1943 in Winona to Clayton W. and Ethel (Strong) Burt, Sr. He attended school in Winona and married his high school sweetheart, Catherine M. Larson, on July 10, 1965. They built a house in Minnesota City and lived there for a few years until moving to Winona. Clayton worked for Fowler & Hammer, Larson Construction, Butch Burt's Contracting, Centerville Homes, and Jeff's Excavating. His love of the racetrack started early in life when he and his brothers raced in Fountain City, and it continued to present day where he was still weighing cars on Friday nights at MTS. He also enjoyed deer hunting, NASCAR, and watching softball games. He was involved with the archery club and Winona 4-Wheelers. He is survived by his daughters, Julie Strain and Michelle Burt; four grandchildren, Zachary, Miranda, Jessica, and Jordan; three great-grandchildren, Matthew, Owen, and Skylar; siblings, Vivian Aslakson, Shirley Ehlenfeldt, Ron (Connie) Burt, Rick Burt, and Eugene "John" (Debbie) Burt. Clayton is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Catherine on January 9, 2013; sisters, Darlene Hook and infant sister Barbara Jean Burt.Memorials are preferred to the family.A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Hoff Celebration of Life Center in Goodview.
