RUSHFORD, MINN. - Clarissa M. Holger, 89, of Rushford died on Saturday, December 1, 2007, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford. Clarissa was born on November 30, 1918, in Sebeka, Minn. to Clarence and Cecelia (Peterson) Thompson. She was raised in rural Peterson and attended Diamond Creek and Tolstad Country Schools, as well as Peterson High School. She married Ernest Johnson in 1935. They were later divorced. On April 25, 1963, she married Morris Holger. They farmed in Rural Rushford. She served as President of the Peterson Legion Auxiliary and belonged to the Peterson Garden Club. She operated Clarissa's Coffee Shop in Peterson from 1957 to 1963, when she moved to Rushford. She joined Rushford Lutheran Church and served as co-president of the Miriam Circle. After she and Morris moved to town, Clarissa volunteered for SEMCAC RSVP Program and Senior Dining. Clarissa was known as an excellent cook and enjoyed making various crafts, which she sold or gave away as gifts to her friends and family. Clarissa loved to bake and enjoyed a good cup of coffee and piece of pie. Clarissa is survived by three sons, Rodney Johnson of Harmony, Minn., Larry (Janice) Johnson of Rushford and Joey Johnson of Peterson, Minn.; grandchildren: Brent, Cindy, Debbie, Shannon and Erick; and by numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris, parents, one infant son, two sisters, one who died in infancy, and one brother. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 6, at Rushford Lutheran Church with the Rev. Roger Michaelson officiating. Burial will be in the Rushford Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Hoff Funeral Homes - Rushford Chapel and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the Church.
