Clarence Senst, 91, of St. Charles died Friday July 13th at Whitewater Health Services in St. Charles. He was born August 27, 1926 in Bremen, MN to Alfred and Laura (Redding) Senst. Clarence attended country school before moving to a farm near Plainview with his family. He attended Immanuel Lutheran School and Plainview High School. Clarence was baptized in Bremen and confirmed in Plainview in 1941.
On September 21, 1950 Clarence married the love of his life, Dolores Syverson and have had 67 years together. The couple resided in Plainview where he worked as a police officer. He also worked for the Plainview Creamery and managed its feed store, before working for Archer Daniels Midland in Winona. Clarence then began his career with Peoples Natural Gas in 1960 and continued his career for more than 30 years as serviceman and regional manager.
Clarence enjoyed many activities with his family. Including: hunting, fishing, playing cards,horse shoes and taking road trips on backroads and roads less traveled. He was a longtime member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, serving on church council. He was also member of the St. Charles Lions for more than 20 years and the St. Charles Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years.
He is survived by his wife Dolores, their four children; Randy (Edi) of Two Harbors, MN, Janette (Mike) Sampson of Stewartville, Richard (Kathy) of Greensburg, KS and Robert Senst of Glencoe, MN, nine grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 21st at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in St. Charles with the Reverend Samuel Morsching officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview. Friends may call from 6-8 p/m/ Friday at Hoff Funeral Service in St. Charles. They may also call one hour before services at the church on Saturday.
