Cheryl L. Loken, 67, "Cherie" of St. Charles, MN died Sunday, December 30, 2018 following a long valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. Cherie died in the comfort of her bed lying next to her loving husband of 34 years.
Cherie was born on November 29, 1951 to Betty and Aloys "Pike" Virnig and lived in St. Charles her entire life. She graduated from St. Charles High School in 1969. Cherie worked for Mayo Clinic for 7 years before beginning her 38 year career with PCA/AgStar Financial. Cherie enjoyed her employment and the friendships she made over the years.
Cherie's first marriage was to Gary Todd in 1974 and to that marriage, Brandon Todd was born. After dating for 7 years, Cherie married the love her of her life, Robert "Bob" Loken, on March 02, 1984. They were looking forward to celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary in March 2019. Cherie and Bob remained close friends with Gary over the years.
Together, Cherie and Bob raised two children, Matt and Kate Loken.
Cherie was a member of Faith Lutheran Church where she volunteered many hours. She enjoyed the little things in life such as bird watching, puzzles, time on the river, coffee hour, her precious animals, and driving the country roads with Bob. Most importantly, Cherie loved her family unconditionally as they were the centerpiece of her life.
She is survived by her husband, Bob; mother Betty Virnig of St. Charles, MN; three children: Brandon (Katherine) Todd of Tucson, AZ, Matt (Brittany) Loken of Rochester, MN, and Kate (Ashley) Loken of Winona, MN; three siblings: Gail (Gary) Gardner of Highlands Ranch, CO, Mick (Larry)Tarara of St. Charles, MN, and Kim (Kevin) Ihrke of St. Charles, MN; brother-in-law Jim (Donna) Loken of St. Peter, MN; five very special grandchildren: Daisy, Savanna, Waylon, Dakota, and Ella; and multiple nieces and nephews.
Cherie was proceeded in death by her father, Aloys Virnig, and her mother and father in-law, Mayme and Walter Loken. There will be a funeral service for Cherie at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 03, 2019, at Faith Lutheran Church with the Reverend Waldemar Gies officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 02, 2019, at Hoff Funeral Home in St. Charles and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.
