Charlotte O. Halvorson

Charlotte O. Halvorson, 85, died Friday, May 13, 2005, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, WI. Charlotte O. Halvorson was born in Winona, MN to Adolph and Louise (Hoff) Elness on November 13, 1919. She was baptized in the old Central Lutheran Church by Rev. Braa and was Confirmed in St. John's Lutheran Church at Nodine, MN by Rev. A. Eichman. Charlotte married Edwin Halvorson on November 12, 1954, he later died in January 1958. They had a daughter Shirley. Charlotte cleaned houses, the Security State Bank, Skifton's Department Store and Dental Office for many years. Later she worked at Valley View Nursing home for 21 ½ years. After retiring from Valley View, Charlotte continued to volunteer at the nursing home for mending. Charlotte belonged to the Nursing Home Auxiliary. Charlotte was a very devout member of Cross of Christ. She sang in Sr. Choir, was an active member of the WELCA, Circles, Quilting, Craft Club and was always willing to volunteer for office work at the church. She also washed, dried and ironed the kitchen towels. She loved the church. It was a source of much strength throughout her life. Charlotte is survived by her daughter Shirley Halvorson, many nieces and nephews and their families. Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin, her parents, and 3 sisters Mildred, Clara, and Betty.
