Charlotte Josephine Reidel died peacefully on Sunday, February 15, in Winona, Minnesota. She was born March 6, 1930, in Trempealeau, Wisconsin, to Joseph and Lizzie Dettinger.When Charlotte was a young teen the family moved to Winona where she graduated from Winona High School. During her teen years she began serving as a dental assistant, learning skills that she used throughout her professional life.In 1950, Charlotte married Holland Reidel. The couple served in ministry for the Church of the Nazarene in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Texas. They concluded their ministerial career with the United Methodist Church in Wisconsin. Upon their retirement, they moved to Winona. For a number of years in their retirement they wintered in Kissimmee, Florida, where they enjoyed a number of strong friendships.Christian faith was the main element of Charlotte's life. She shared her faith through her beautiful singing, through her compassion for others, and through her warm hospitality. Everyone was welcome at her table, anytime. She knew no strangers. Her can-do spirit served her well as she served God by serving others. Charlotte's final years were spent at Watkins Manor where she enjoyed the friends and fellowship found in that caring environment.Charlotte is survived by her daughter, Carmen (Gary) Ringhiser of Kansas City, Missouri; Daryl (Trudy) Reidel of Winona, and four grandchildren, Christopher (Aaren), Tiffany (fiancé Joe Kronebusch), Josuha, and Isaiah Reidel; sisters Phyllis (Bob) Seymour, and Julie (Johnie) Groves, brother-in-law Terry Witt, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Holland, her parents, her brother, Ronald Dettinger, and sister, Lorraine Wobig.The family wishes to thank everyone at Watkins Manor, Lake Winona Manor, Winona Health Hospice Services, Dr. Dennis Nolan, and Dr. Bryan Reed for their loving care.A service to honor Charlotte's life is planned for 11:30 a.m., Saturday February 21 at Winona Church of the Nazarene, 469 Orrin Street with the Reverend Dave Foshee officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Lunch will follow the service at the church. Private family burial will take place.Memorials may be made to the Winona Church of the Nazarene or Winona Health Hospice Services.Hoff Celebration of Life Center in Goodview is assisting the family with arrangements.
