Charl Susan Swiggum, 84, formerly of St. Charles died Sunday evening, June 27, 2021 at Seasons Hospice House in Rochester. Charl was born July 27, 1936 in Austin to Charles and Bernice (Hillson) Ellis. Charl married Bobby Skalisky August 22, 1954. They made their home in Blooming Prairie where Bobby and Charl operated the Cozy Inn Café. In 1973 they moved their family to Rochester where they managed the Sweden House restaurant, later managing the kitchen at the Rochester Eagles Club. Charl worked as a waitress at Michaels Restaurant for many years. Bobby died March 24, 1990. On November 20, 1992 Charl and Fred Swiggum were married. They made their home in St. Charles. Fred died June 7, 2016. She had been an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in St. Charles.
She later moved to The Waters on Mayowood in Rochester and recently entered Seasons Hospice.

Charl is survived by three children; Scott (Beth) Skalisky, Belinda (Steve) Priebe and Brian (Monica) Skalisky, grandchildren; Josh Skalisky, Ashley Priebe (TJ Haliburton), Nick Priebe, Jena and Rachel Skalisky, a brother, Chuck (Sylvia) Ellis, step-children; James (Nancy) Swiggum, Lola (Jerry) Mueller, Lori (John) Deutschman and Ralph Swiggum, step-grandchildren; Christopher, Scott and Lynn Swiggum, Ryan and Brent Carlson, Michael Deutschman, Chelsea Jensen, Allison and Nicole Swiggum and several step great-grandchildren. Charl was preceded in death by her husbands Bobby and Fred as well as a son Robin.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at Hoff Funeral Service in St. Charles with Reverend Christopher Chatelaine-Samsen of Faith Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow in Blooming Prairie Cemetery. A visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
