Cecil K. Wier, 85, of Galesville, WI died on Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at Mayo Health System - Franciscan in La Crosse, WI.
Cecil was born on September 27, 1931, in Galesville, WI to Fred and Ellen (Kirch) Wier. He was raised in Galesville, the youngest of seven children. In his younger years he enjoyed picking apples with his brothers and attended Maplewood School in Centerville, WI. Cecil was united in marriage on September 26, 1954, in Winona, MN to Irene Brashaw. Together they raised four sons. He worked for Hossfeld Machine Shop in Winona, MN, where he worked for over 41 years. He also farmed cattle on his farm in Galesville. He was always good and gentle with his farm animals. Cecil bought a newer house on the farm in 1994. The house burned down in March of 2015. He was very well read in the Bible and was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Galesville. Cecil was very proud to have received his GED from Western Wisconsin Technical College in La Crosse in 2015. In his spare time, Cecil enjoyed cars, tractors, playing horseshoes and was able to ride a bicycle backwards.
Cecil is survived by four sons: Curtis Wier of La Crosse, David Wier of Galesville, Steven Wier and Paul Wier both of La Crosse.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, one sister and five brothers.
There will be a funeral service for Cecil at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at Hoff Celebration of Life Center in Goodview, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Centerville, WI.
