Catherine B. Wegman

St. Charles, Catherine B. Wegman, 90, of St. Charles died Monday evening November 19, 2007 at Golden Living Center, Whitewater in St. Charles. Catherine was born January 15, 1917 in St. Charles to Martin and Anna (Burbach) Rinn. Her family moved to Rollingstone where she attended school. On August 27, 1936 she and Gerald Wegman were married at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Rollingstone. They lived all their married lives in St. Charles, where Gerald was superintendent of city utilities. Gerald died December 22, 1986. Catherine was a great cook and baker; she enjoyed baking pies, making quilts, being with family & friends, playing cards and bingo, and was an avid Twins fan. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, its Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters, and St. Joseph Unit. She was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Survivors include eight children; seven daughters, Lois (Doug) Brighton of St. Charles, Marilyn (Gus) Ihrke of St. Charles, Judy (John) Melbo of Hastings, Ruth (Doug) Riles of Hastings, Marlys (Dale) Hinckley of Chatfield, Colleen (Don) Wegner of St. Cloud, Sheila (Bill) Burk of Chatfield and one son, Gerald (Earlene) Wegman of Huntington Beach, CA, 23 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by five brothers, her twin sister, two other sisters, and a great granddaughter. A Funeral Mass for Catherine will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, November 24, 2007 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with The Reverend James Callahan officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, St. Charles. Friends may call from 4-8pm on Friday, November 23 at Hoff Funeral Home in St. Charles. There will be a Rosary service at 4:30pm.
