Carol Kieffer

Rochester,     Carol P. Kieffer, 63, of Rochester died Monday evening, May 27th, at Seasons Hospice in Rochester.      Carol was born June 22, 1939 in Saratoga Township, Winona County to Chester and Lillian ( Gudmundson) Rain. She later moved with her family to California, returning to the area in 1960. She and Donald Kieffer were married July 1, 1961 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. They made their home in Rochester. From 1971 – 1992 they lived in Utica. Then lived four years in Arkansas, before returning to Rochester in 1996. Carol worked at the Utica Bank and for insurance agencies. She also worked many years making crafts.     Carol enjoyed sewing, quilting, playing cards. She loved to collect M& M and Pepsi items and Longaberger Baskets. Most of all Carol enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandkids. She belonged to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.     Survivors include her husband Donald, three children, Shari Ploetz of Rochester; Becky (Kevin) Nelson of Zumbrota and Tom (Sheila) Kieffer of Utica, five grandchildren, Stephanie; Joshua; Jason; Megan; and Alex, three brothers, Leland Rain of Lewiston; Willard Rain of Rochester; and David Rain of Norwood Young America. A sister Barbara Jensen and her parents preceded her in death.      There will be a Funeral mass 10 Am Friday at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in St. Charles with the Rev. James Callahan officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Rochester. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Thursday and 8:30 AM – 9:30 AM Friday at Hoff Funeral Home’s – St. Charles Chapel.
