Carol D. Gerth

Carol D. Gerth, 67, died Wednesday, January 16, 2008, at her home in Winona, MN. Carol was born November 20, 1940, in Gilmanton, WI to Ford and Laura (Schultz) Wright. She married Charles Gerth on August 29, 1959, in Winona, MN. Carol worked for twenty years at Saint Mary's University in food service retiring in 2006. In the past she had also worked for Winona County, H. Choate Co., J.C. Penny's and Camera Art. It was at Saint Mary's University that Carol formed treasured relationships with students and faculty. Carol was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Winona, MN.Survivors include her husband, Charlie; three children, Jeff Gerth, Rick Gerth of Lakeville, MN and Kim (Reed) Qualey of Cannon Falls, MN; two grandchildren, Ethan and Sari Gerth of Arkdale, WI; step grandchildren, Tara (Justan) Duden, Laura Qualey, Richard Qualey and Ryan (Mandi) Qualey; step great grandchildren, Mattie, Mason, Charlize, Vienna, Amelia and Tristan; and sister-in-law, Carolynn (John) Bradley of Whitefish Bay, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Lyle.Private family services are being planned for a later date. The family suggests memorials be directed in Carol's name to Lung Cancer Research Foundation at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, WI.
