Obituary Carmen Rae Winter (April 21, 1941-March 25, 2024)
Carmen Winter, 82, of Chatfield, MN, entered the gates of heaven on March 25, 2024.
She was born in Titonka, Iowa to Carlyle and Mae Egesdal. She met the love of her life, Lawrence Winter, in the 5th grade. Not long after they graduated high school in Buffalo Center, IA, they married on December 19, 1959. Together they had two children Kimberly and James. They moved several times, but spent the majority of their early years in Clear Lake, IA.
They moved to Stewartville, MN in the late 90’s to be closer to family and to allow Larry to drive semitruck. Their love story continued with her riding beside Larry in his truck over-the-road. She had plenty of crossword puzzles, games of solitaire, and loved listening to Perry Stone Bible teachings to keep her busy on the road. They “may or may not” have snuck the grandkids in for a trip here and there too (shhh).
5 years ago, Carmen was able to downsize and move closer to her daughter in Chatfield.
Carmen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son. She is survived by her daughter Kimberly Donahoe and her 4 grandchildren; Robert (Alyssa) Donahoe, Caitlin (Robert) Castillo, Sarah (Derek) Eggers, Elizabeth (Dawayne) Albertson, 8 great grandchildren, 2 sisters; Carol Aukes and Roberta Kotten, and 1 brother; Brent (Vickie) Egesdal, sister-in-law; Evelyn Winter.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Burial will take place at Graceland Cemetery in Buffalo Center, Iowa, at a later date.
