Carl J. "Bud" Brackett, 86 of Lewiston, died Friday, September 25, 2015 at Lake Winona Manor.Bud was born on June 18, 1929 in Lewiston to Lorraine Kessler. He attended school in Lewiston until he began working as a truck driver for Bill Schott Trucking. On May 4, 1957, he married Deloris Treder and together they owned and operated Bud's Service until 1983. After they sold the service station, Bud drove truck for many local businesses, worked for the city of Lewiston and drove school bus from 1957 until 1986. Bud was one of the original members of the Pork Master Chefs and was a member of the Lewiston Volunteer Fire Department from 1956-1986, serving 9 years as chief. He also served one term on the Lewiston City Council and was a longtime, devoted member of St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Lewiston. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Deloris; one son, William; one daughter, Sara, all of Lewiston; two sisters, Betty Paige of Dracut, MA and Shirley (Alden) Cook of Mineral Wells, TX and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother; one brother, William; and a niece Diann Grasso.Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at St. John's Lutheran Church with the Reverend Michael A. Lindemann and Reverend Paul Kuckhahn officiating. Burial will follow at Lewiston Public Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m., Tuesday at the church and one hour prior to the service.
