RUSHFORD, MINN. - Carl J. Boehmke, 96, of Rushford, died Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford. Carl was born on May 1, 1907, in Hart Township of Winona County, to Lewis and Mary (Heusmann) Boehmke. He attended the St. Johns Lutheran School in Hart and also the Washington Kosciusko School in Winona, Minn. On September 22, 1928, Carl married Hazel Feine at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Hart. He worked as a farmer in the Hart area until 1960, when Carl did carpentry work, which he did until the mid 1990's. He was a member of the St. Johns Lutheran Church where he had been on the church board and was on the Tri-County Electric board in Rushford as well. Carl enjoyed Gardening, especially roses, hunting, woodworking and spending time with his family. Carl is survived by three sons: Robert (Maxine) Boehmke of Rushford, Charles (Marilyn) Boehmke of Rushford, and Louis (Marlene) Boehmke of Port St. Luci, Fla.; three daughters: Shirley Bublitz and Marcella Boehmke both of Henderson, Nev. and Roberta Anderson of Rushford; 23 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; two sisters, Gertrude Eggert and Erna Engrav; Daughter, Ellen Marie; two sons-in-law, Kenneth Anderson and Milton Bublitz; two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 18, 2004, at the St. Johns Lutheran Church in Hart, Minn. with the Rev. Frederick Buth officiating. Burial will be in the St. Johns Lutheran Brand Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, at Hoff Funeral Homes - Rushford Chapel and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to be directed to the St. Johns Lutheran Church or to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home.
