Bruce Johnson

Bruce Clifford Johnson, age 78, of Rochester, MN, died Monday, December 25, 2023 at his home, after a 3 year battle with cancer.

Bruce was born November 6, 1945 in St. Charles, the son of Clifford and Verna (Wondrow) Johnson. He was united in marriage to Rose Hundorf, and to this union 3 children were born. The couple later divorced. Bruce worked for 43 years as an electrician, and was a member of IBEW Local #343. He was united in marriage to Sandra Murray in 2000 at Peace United Church of Christ in Rochester, and together they enjoyed 23 years of marriage. Bruce’s passion was farming, especially raising cattle, tractor pulling, auctions, and many trips to Fleet Farm. Bruce loved camping with his family, and particularly loved telling stories around the evening campfire. 

He is survived by his wife, Sandy; children: Jason (Lisa) Johnson of Eyota, MN, Heather (Lance) Hoffmann of Rochester, and Joe (Nikki) Johnson of Eyota; Sandy’s children: Denise (Steve) Allen of Ormsby, MN, and Melanie Murray of Byron, MN; grandchildren: Brittany (Kovin), Leah (Trevor), Ryan (Kaylin), Breanna, Tyler, Paige, Izzy; great-grandchild, Adaline; Sandy’s grandchildren: Darrin (Courtney), Tyler (Bethany), Ashley, Riley, and Hannah; and her great-grandchildren: Kennedy, and Micah; brother Gary (Wendy) Johnson of Seal Beach, CA.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and sister in infancy.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 11:00am at Hoff Funeral Home in St. Charles, MN. Visitation will be Friday, December 29, from 4-7pm at Hoff Funeral Home in St. Charles, and will continue one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in St. Charles
