Bruce W. Anderson passed away peacefully on February 2, 2025 at St. Anne’s in Winona, at the age of 85. He was in the company of his wife and children in his final moments.
Bruce was born on October 6, 1939 in Detroit Lakes, MN to parents Alford and Omie Anderson, and later joined by brother Paul. He shared fond memories and colorful stories of growing up on his family farm in Clay County. He graduated from Lake Park High School in 1957 and then Interstate Business College in Fargo, ND.
Bruce started his career at Farmers Union GTA in St. Paul as an auditor. There, he met his wife Judith Nordahl, a Roseville girl, and they were married on November 24,1962. They began their married life in Illinois at the Glenview Naval Air Base while Bruce served in the “flying Navy” from 1962 to 1965. Their next few decades were spent in Roseville, MN raising their two children. Bruce had a long tenure at Shell Oil as a bookkeeper and then Impressions, Inc as a paper cutter, where he retired. Around the same time, he started working part-time as a realtor in the Twin Cities and then later in Winona, where he moved in 2004. His last career was as a “Minnesota Go-fer” for his son-in-law at Tom’s Lock Service.
Bruce enjoyed his time on the golf course, loved watching all sports (including those played by his children and grandchildren), and was an encyclopedia of old cars and tractors. Nothing was better to him than a morning out to breakfast with his loved ones.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Anderson; his younger brother, Paul (Sheila) Anderson; his children: Julie (Emerit) Thompson and Bryce (Mary Pream) Anderson; his grandchildren: Michael (Jessica) Pream-Anderson, Tia Thompson, Alicia (Nate) Swanson, Kelsi (Sheldon) Lewis, and Haley (Ethan) Thompson; and his great-grandchildren: Liam Pream-Anderson, Kora Pream-Anderson, and Harvey Swanson. He is also survived by his nephews Eric Anderson and Kevin (Erika) Anderson.
A memorial service for Bruce will be held Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 12:00pm at Hoff Celebration of Life Center in Winona. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
