Bonnie J. Tschumper, 87, of Houston, MN, died on Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at her home in Houston.
Bonnie was born on August 9, 1929, in La Crosse, WI to Alois and Evelyn (Schubert) Hansen. She was raised in La Crosse. She married Ray Strong. Ray died in 1955. Bonnie was then united in marriage with Norbert Tschumper on November 21, 1959. Norbert died in 1991. Bonnie was a member of both, St. Mary's Catholic Church in Houston and St. Peter's Catholic Church in Hokah. Through the years she worked at several places including: The Rivoli Theater and St. Francis Hospital in La Crosse, Headstart in Hokah, Valley High Golf Course, and was the head cook at Houston High School. She loved to read and play games, especially Euchre and Dominos.
She is survived by eleven children: Susan (Mike) Carpenter of Caledonia, MN, Ron Strong of Florida, Patti (Mike) Huish of Arizona, Bonnie (David) Wardwell of Rollingstone, MN, John (Lynn) Tschumper of Money Creek, MN, Mary (Dan) Friesen of Houston, Gina (Jim) Johnson of Texas, Steven (Mary) Tschumper of Houston, Lisa Onsgard of Houston, Rose (John) Gardner of Farmington, MN, and Adele (Paul) Gee of Money Creek, MN; a daughter-in-law, Betsy Strong; thirty five grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. Siblings: Jim (Phyllis) Hansen, Thomas (Terri) Hansen, Bernette Albitz, John Hansen ,Michael Hansen, Bob (Sandy) Hansen, and Pete (Cheryl) Hansen
She was preceded in death by her parents, first and second husbands, and two sons, Al Strong and Tom Tschumper, a son-in-law, Owen Onsgard, a grandson, Jason Carpenter, and siblings: Dona Mae Michel, Bill Hansen, Mary Jane Hofslien, Betty Lou Strong, Jerry Hansen, and Pat Hansen.
There will be a visitation for Bonnie from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 20, at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service in Houston. A Memorial Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 21, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Hokah, MN with the Reverend Pratap Reddy officiating. Burial will be at Covenant Cemetery in Hokah, MN at a later date.
