As a young man he excelled at all sports, including softball and football, and also enjoyed shooting pool and playing cards. Bob was a fan of all Minnesota sports, especially the Gophers, Twins and Vikings. He belonged to Faith Lutheran Church and the Moose Lodge, both of St. Charles.
