RUSHFORDBillie Virginia Hansen, 92 of Rushford, died Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home.Billie was born February 7, 1922 in Anoka County to Theodore and Marie (Dosh) Jensen. She graduated from Albert Lea High School and attended teacher's college in Mankato during the war. She taught for a few years and was united in marriage to Fred Hansen on August 25, 1947 near Hayward, MN. They farmed near Austin until 1955 then moved to Pope County and finally to Winona County in 1966. In 1980 after retirement, Billie and Fred relocated to Rushford, where they gardened, played cards, and "took it easier." They enjoyed traveling to various places in the U.S. and Canada in retirement. In her spare time, Billie enjoyed reading poetry and novels and was interested in Geography and United States history. She also participated in the Garden Club of Peterson. She was proud that she lived in 8 counties throughout her lifetime. She will be missed by many.Billie is survived by her children, Eugene "Gene" Hansen of Rushford, Karen Hansen of Minneapolis, and Kathryn "Kathie" Hansen of Great Falls, MT; grandchildren, Nathan Hansen, Michelle Hansen, Michael Hansen and Melissa Hansen. She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Marie; husband, Fred, in February 1994; daughter-in-law, Karen Hansen; an infant son; and an infant brother.A gathering of family and friends will be held from 6-8pm on Friday, August 15, 2014 at Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service in Rushford. Funeral service will be 11am, Saturday, August 16 at the funeral home with visitation one hour prior. Pastor Kristin Rice will officiate.
