Beverly Hoenk

December 21, 1956 — March 16, 2024

Beverly Ann Hoenk, 67 of Winona, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Rochester with family by her side.

Bev was born on December 21, 1956 in Elgin, North Dakota to Elmo and Marylou Wisted.  After moving in elementary school, she spent her childhood in Winona, MN attending Winona Junior High and Winona Senior High.  Upon high school graduation, she began waitressing at a variety of popular restaurants in Winona before transitioning to a career in Customer Service at WinCraft.

On September 1, 1984 she married her loving husband, Dale Hoenk and had 2 children, Keri and Matt. Bev enjoyed family time on their boat, "H'Anchors Away". She spent her summers on the sandbars of the Mississippi River, tended to her flower gardens and watched the birds. In the colder months she enjoyed baking cookies, making lefse, and cooking her favorite dinner recipes.  She looked forward to the family's annual salmon fishing trip to Door County (37 years) and going out to eat with family and friends in the Winona area.

Bev spent her later years in ways that brought her true joy and fulfillment.  She enjoyed going for walks in the sun around Lake Winona, playing Wordle with family, and looked forward to weekly “Grandma Day” with her 2 oldest granddaughters.  Bev took every opportunity to spend time with loved ones and showered them with baked goods and home cooked meals. She attended country music concerts, traveled to Nashville, TN, annual trip to Lake Lida, and visited family in Panama City Beach, Fl.

Bev will be missed by her children, Keri (Sam) Cada and Matt (Reegan) Hoenk; granddaughters, Callie, Kenley, Peyton; grandson Griffin; siblings, Jeffrey (Dr. Pamela McGrann) Wisted, Judith (Jeff) Simons, Barbara (Stevan) Spencer, and Eric (Rebecca) Wisted; mother-in-law, Leone Hoenk; Sisters-in-law, Carol (Craig) VanOort, Sue (Richard) Holland; and many nieces, nephews, other family members, and close friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Dale Hoenk; mother, Marylou Wisted; father, Elmo Wisted; father-in-law, Kenneth Hoenk and Sister-in-law, Anita Wisted.

The family would like to share their sincere gratitude to the Mayo Clinic ICU Nurses and Providers who cared for Bev and her family with kindness and compassion.
